Ride-sharing is an on-demand private trip: you request a ride and a nearby driver collects you. Carpooling is a planned trip on a driver’s published route: you book a seat, share the vehicle with others going the same way, and split the cost.

There are two. Carpool drivers share trips they are already making and use the Rider app. Ride-share drivers use the Driver app for on-demand trips and meet full commercial e-hailing compliance requirements.

Download the app, create an account, choose your driver type and upload your documents. Once approved you can publish a carpool route or go online for ride requests.

Open the app, enter your pickup and destination, then choose Ride or Carpool. For a carpool, pick a route that matches your trip, set the seats you need and confirm.

Yes. Link your Hike account securely to WhatsApp and you can request rides in a chat.

Ride AI is an assistant inside the app. Tell it where you want to go in plain language and it suggests matching places and helps you book.

Yes, when you book a carpool you can flag luggage space, child seat, pet friendly and wheelchair access, and ask for assistance.

For rides, the fare is shown on the booking screen before you confirm. For carpools, you pay the per-seat price the driver set for the leg you travel, multiplied by the seats you book.

You can pay in cash, or use your Hike wallet, which is the default payment method in the app.

Drivers set a price per seat for each segment of their route. Passengers who ride only part of the route pay only for their leg.

Carpool drivers share a trip they are already making, so requirements are lighter. Ride-share (e-hailing) drivers need the operating licence and permits required for commercial passenger transport.

Use the report option in the app or contact our team through the Contact page. Include the date, time and trip details. In an emergency, call the police first.
